Dear Sleep,
I know we don't usually communicate like this but I think both of us need this. We've reached a point where this is not only necessary but inevitable.
We've been in each other's company for as long as I can remember. In tune with what the other wanted.
Laboriously creating fantastical worlds for us to explore together. Reaching unimaginable highs and lows.
Do you remember that day we flew over the city? Superman had nothing on us! Or that delicious ice cream? I still can't remember the taste, only that it was the best I'd ever had.
So why now? Why are you ignoring me? Have you found someone else?
I guess what I'm trying to clarify is whether you're cheating on me. I need to know.
I can't have the leftover you that gives me interrupted naps instead of my usual delicious slumber.
I can't have traces of a twisted adventure. Don't you dare blame this on my horror movies! I know it's because of us.
So tell me. Am I not important to you anymore? Do you feel we've outgrown each other?
I think I've been extremely patient but this needs to end.
We need to go back to the days when we were molded and our paths joined in perfect harmony or we need to part ways.
Of course, not in a stalkerish kind of way. Just spend at least a few hours a day with just me. Uninterrupted. Just us.
Insomnia has been bothering me lately. I've told her that you're my most wonderful companion. That I'll forever be on your side. She didn't seem impressed. Lately though she's been coming around more often.
Please have a talk with her. As much as I know she doesn't choose to be like this, that's no excuse to make these unwanted visits. She always comes bearing gifts I don't want.
When she finally chooses to leave, I'm left in a bad mood, with no energy and look like an extra in a zombie movie.
Last time she stayed so long I passed out from sheer boredom.
I miss you sleep.
I just want to make sure nothing's changed between us.
Let's meet up at our usual place and time.
Let's talk dream to dream.
